Bishop Gregory Parkes will lead a Holy Hour at St. Jude the Apostle Cathedral to consecrate the Diocese of St. Petersburg to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Consecration preparation at St. Paul will begin on April 2nd and we will use True Devotion to Mary through Jesus by St. Louis de Montfort.

Pope Francis Grants Indulgence to the Faithful during the 

50th Anniversary of the Diocese of St. Petersburg

The faithful who commit to a complete detachment of sin may follow the steps below to receive this indulgence.

· Devoutly make a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle in a spirit of contrition and love on:  May 6, 2018, 3 p.m. for the Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary  or Another day during 2018 and set aside time for meditation, praying the Our Father, the Creed and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary

· Participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation (20 days before or after visiting the cathedral)

· Receive the Holy Eucharist (20 days before or after visiting the cathedral)

· Pray for the pope and for his intentions

What is an indulgence?

“A remission before God of the temporal punishment due to sins whose guilt has already been forgiven, which the faithful Christian who is duly disposed gains under certain prescribed conditions through the action of the Church which, as the minister of redemption, dispenses and applies with authority the treasury of the satisfactions of Christ and the saints. An indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part or all of the temporal punishment due to sin.” – (Catechism of the Catholic Church (No. 1471). Indulgences may be applied to one’s self or the dead.

Preparation for Consecration

On the occasion of our Diocese of St. Petersburg 50th Anniversary, all parishes of the diocese are invited to begin the preparation for a special consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary that will take place on May 6th.  Our parish will be using Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary from St. Louis of Monfort. Diocesan Golden Jubilee Mass

Our Diocese of St. Petersburg  celebrates  their 50th Anniversary Mass at the Cathedral of St. Jude, the Apostle.  This is a ticketed event. 

In addition, as with many jubilee years, Pope Francis has instructed a special plenary indulgence for the faithful of the diocese to be available throughout 2018. Find more HERE
